What's the Story About?
The book's main story begins with a plan for revenge. A singer named Gmygmy from a small, poor country called Krpshtskan was made fun of by people in America because of his singing voice. This made his father, Grdankl the Strong, who is the president of Krpshtskan, very angry. Grdankl decides to get back at America. He sends his other son, Prmkt, on a secret mission to cause trouble. Prmkt's goal is to mess up America's power supply, also known as the electrical grid.
Prmkt's Secret Mission
Prmkt gets a job as a janitor at Hubble Middle School. This is a very good public school in southern Maryland. The school holds a big science fair every year. The winner gets a cash prize. Prmkt secretly sends messages to some rich kids from Manor Estates (ME). These kids are children of important government officials. They always win the science fair by cheating. They go to a store called the Science Nook, where the owner, Neil Sternabite, secretly builds their projects for money. Prmkt tells the ME kids he can give them special plans to build advanced projects for the science fair, also for a fee.
Toby's Investigation
Meanwhile, Toby Harbinger, a student at Hubble Middle School, wants to stop the cheating. The ME kids often bully him. He learns about their yearly trick. Toby tries to tell the school principal, who students call "the Hornet" because she is scary. But Toby cannot prove anything. Prmkt makes it look like Toby cheated, so Toby gets suspended from school. Neil Sternabite, the Science Nook owner, starts to worry. He suspects something strange about the combination of projects the ME kids are building this year.
The Big Showdown
Prmkt then tricks Toby and his two friends, Micah and Tamara, into a difficult situation with the authorities. Two men sent by Grdankl the Strong, named Drmtsi and Vrsk, also get into trouble. Toby and his friends manage to escape in a special vehicle called a Wienermobile. They race back to Hubble Middle School. They arrive just in time to stop Prmkt's plan during the science fair.
