In 1998, a team of athletes from Scotland traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They were there to compete in the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Scotland did very well, winning a total of 12 medals. This included 3 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Their great effort placed them 11th in the overall medal table.

Gold Medal Champions

  Alex Arthur won gold in the Featherweight (57 kg) boxing event. He fought hard to become a champion.

• Bowls:

  Margaret Letham and Joyce Lindores teamed up to win gold. They were the best in the Women's doubles bowls competition.

• Squash:

  Peter Nicol took home the gold medal in Men's singles squash. He played brilliantly to secure his victory.

  Allison Curbishley won a silver medal in the Woman's 400 meters race. She ran an amazing race.

• Swimming:

• Shooting:

  Shirley McIntosh and Janis Thomson won bronze. They competed in the Women's 50m Three-Positions Rifle pairs.

  Shirley McIntosh and Susan Bell also won bronze. This was in the Women's 50m Prone Rifle pairs event.

  David Rattray and Robin Law earned bronze in Men's 10m Air Rifle pairs.

• Squash:

  Stuart Cowie and Peter Nicol won bronze in Men's doubles squash. Peter Nicol also won a gold medal earlier!
