About Scott Dureau

Early Life and Beginnings

Scott Dureau was born in Taree, New South Wales, Australia, on July 29, 1986. From a young age, he showed a passion for rugby league. He started his junior football career playing for the Port Macquarie Sharks.

Scott passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 39. He had been dealing with a serious illness for some time.

Scott's Rugby League Journey

Playing for the Newcastle Knights

In the early 2000s, the Newcastle Knights recognized Scott's talent. They signed him to play in their junior teams. He quickly earned several awards at the club.

Scott made his professional debut for the Knights in 2007. This exciting moment happened against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He played for the Knights until 2010. At that time, the coach suggested it would be good for Scott to look for a new team. This was because the Knights had many other talented players in his position.

Time with the Catalans Dragons

In 2011, Scott Dureau moved to France to play for the Catalans Dragons. He quickly became the team's main halfback. He had a very successful three years with the Dragons.

Scott was recognized for his excellent performance. He was named in the Super League Dream Team in both 2011 and 2012. In 2012, he also received the prestigious Albert Goldthorpe Medal.

During 2013 and 2014, Scott faced a serious health challenge that required surgery. This meant he missed a significant part of those seasons.

A Brief Loan to the Sydney Roosters

In the middle of the 2014 season, Scott Dureau joined the Sydney Roosters on a temporary loan. However, he did not get to play any games for the club in the NRL.
