Scott Hamilton (born September 12, 1954) is an American jazz musician. He is famous for playing the tenor saxophone. His music style is mainly swing and straight-ahead jazz. Swing jazz is a lively type of jazz music. Straight-ahead jazz is a traditional style of jazz. Scott's oldest son, Shō Īmura, is a singer in the Japanese rock band Okamoto's.
Scott Hamilton's Music Journey
Scott Hamilton was born in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. He started playing the tenor saxophone when he was sixteen years old. In 1976, he moved to New York City. There, he played with the famous jazz musician Benny Goodman.

Scott often led his own bands. He also worked with other talented musicians like Ruby Braff and Warren Vache. He recorded his first important jazz album as a band leader in 1977. This album was for a company called Chiaroscuro. In the same year, he started recording for Concord Records. He continued to record many albums with Concord, both as a solo artist and as part of the Concord Jazz All Stars. For ten years, he also played with singer Rosemary Clooney in the studio and on tour.
During the 1980s, Scott Hamilton traveled a lot. He toured in Japan, Sweden, and the UK. He also performed at a big jazz festival in Nice, France, called the Grande Parade du Jazz. In the 1990s, he moved to London. There, he started a quartet, which is a group of four musicians. His quartet included John Pearce, Dave Green, and Steve Brown.
In 2007, Scott was a special guest at the Brecon Jazz Festival. He played with Humphrey Lyttelton and his band. Part of this concert was shown on TV as a tribute to Lyttelton. Later, in 2013 and 2014, Scott worked with musicians Andrea Motis and Joan Chamorro.

Scott Hamilton has released many albums as a leader. Some of his early albums include Scott Hamilton Is a Good Wind Who Is Blowing Us No Ill and Scott Hamilton 2. He has also recorded albums with other jazz greats. For example, he made Back to Back with Buddy Tate and Tour De Force with Al Cohn.
He has also played on many albums as a sideman, meaning he played with other main artists. He worked a lot with Ruby Braff on albums like A First and A Sailboat In The Moonlight. He also played on many albums with Rosemary Clooney, including Everything's Coming Up Rosie and Rosemary Clooney Sings the Music of Cole Porter. Scott has also played with a wide range of other musicians, such as Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Charlie Byrd, and Gerry Mulligan.
