Scott Machado, born on June 8, 1990, is a professional basketball player. He is American-Brazilian and plays for Minas Clube in Brazil. He also plays for the Brazilian national team. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Iona Gaels.

Scott Machado's Early Life and High School Basketball
Scott Machado played basketball for three years at St. Mary's High School in New York. There, he was teammates with Danny Green, who later became an NBA player. For his final year of high school, Scott moved to Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. He played for coach Danny Hurley, whose father is a famous Hall of Fame coach.

Freshman Year Success
As a freshman, Scott led his team in points scored. He set a new school record for assists by a freshman, with 150 assists. He was also named the Rookie of the Year for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Sophomore and Junior Years
In his second year, Scott helped the Gaels win 21 games. He was chosen for the second team All-Conference. As a junior, Scott really shined. He averaged 13.2 points and 7.6 assists per game, which was second best in the entire country. He set another school record for assists in a season with 281. He was also named to the first team All-Conference.
Senior Year Achievements
During his senior year, Scott broke the school record for career assists in the very first game. He also broke the MAAC conference record for assists. Scott became one of the best point guards in college basketball. He was a finalist for important awards like the Bob Cousy Award and the Wooden Award.

After college, Scott Machado started his professional basketball career.
Starting in the NBA and D-League (2012–2013)
Scott was not chosen in the 2012 NBA draft, but he joined the Houston Rockets for the NBA Summer League. He later signed with the Rockets. He also spent time playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League (now called the G League). Scott made his NBA debut with the Rockets in November 2012.
In January 2013, Scott joined the Santa Cruz Warriors. He later signed a short contract with the Golden State Warriors in April 2013. He played in one playoff game for the Golden State Warriors.
Playing in Different Leagues (2013–2017)
Scott continued to play for the Santa Cruz Warriors. He also played for the Idaho Stampede. In 2014, he moved to France to play for ASVEL Basket. Later that year, he played for BC Kalev/Cramo in Estonia.
In 2015, Scott played for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany. In 2016, he joined SC Rasta Vechta, also in Germany. He then moved to Spain to play for ICL Manresa. In one exciting game, Scott scored the winning basket for his team.
Return to the G League and NBA (2017–2019)
In October 2017, Scott joined the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League. He played very well, averaging 15.9 points and 8.7 assists per game.
In October 2018, Scott signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he was waived a day later. He then returned to the South Bay Lakers. In March 2019, he signed another short contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored a career-high 7 points in a game against the Utah Jazz.
Playing in Australia (2019–2022)
In August 2019, Scott signed with the Cairns Taipans in Australia. He had a fantastic season, averaging 16.6 points and 7.7 assists. He was named the Fans' Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the Taipans Club MVP. He was also selected for the All-NBL First Team.
Scott re-signed with the Taipans for two more years. In 2021, he also played for the Mandurah Magic in Western Australia. He was named to the All-NBL1 West First Team. In the 2021–22 season, Scott had a heel injury that caused him to miss many games. He left the Taipans in June 2022.
Recent Career (2022–Present)
In June 2022, Scott signed with Hapoel Eilat in Israel. In December 2022, he moved to Russia to play for Avtodor Saratov. From 2023 to 2024, he played for Flamengo in Brazil. Since 2024, he has been playing for Minas in Brazil.

In 2018, Scott Machado started playing for the Brazilian national team. He played in the FIBA World Cup Americas qualifiers. In four games, he averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.

Scott Machado's Personal Life
Scott Machado's parents are Luiz and Solenir Machado, who are from Brazil. When he was a child, Scott started using his middle name "Scott" instead of his first name "Michael." He did this because his favorite team, the New York Knicks, often lost to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
