Michael Scott Machado (born June 8, 1990) is an American-Brazilian professional basketball player. He plays as a point guard for the Minas Clube team in Brazil. Scott also plays for the Brazilian national basketball team.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Scott Machado was born on June 8, 1990. He grew up in Queens, New York, in the United States. His parents, Luiz and Solenir Machado, are from Brazil.
When he was a child, Scott started using his middle name, "Scott," instead of his first name, "Michael." This was because his favorite team, the New York Knicks, often lost to Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.
Scott played high school basketball for three years at St. Mary's High School in New York. There, he played alongside Danny Green, who later became an NBA player. For his final year, Scott moved to Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. He played for a famous coach named Danny Hurley.
College Career at Iona
Scott Machado played college basketball for Iona College from 2008 to 2012.
Freshman Year Success
As a freshman, Scott quickly showed his skills. He led his team, the Iona Gaels, in points scored. He also set a new school record for assists by a freshman. An assist is when a player passes the ball to a teammate who then scores. Because of his great start, he was named the Rookie of the Year in his conference.
Sophomore and Junior Years
In his second year, Scott continued to play well. He helped the Gaels win 21 games that season. He was chosen for the Second-Team All-Conference. During his junior year, Scott became one of the best point guards in the country. He was second in the nation for assists per game. He also set a new school record for the most assists in a single season.
Senior Year Achievements
As a senior, Scott broke the school record for career assists in the very first game. He also broke a conference record for assists. He was recognized as one of the top point guards in college basketball. Scott was a finalist for important awards like the Bob Cousy Award and the Wooden Award.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Scott Machado began his professional basketball career.
Starting in the NBA G League
Scott was not chosen in the 2012 NBA draft. However, he joined the Houston Rockets for the NBA Summer League. He later signed with the Rockets and played a few games for them. He also spent time with their minor league team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, in the NBA Development League (now called the G League).
In 2013, Scott was traded to the Santa Cruz Warriors. He then signed a short contract with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He even played in an NBA playoff game for them.
Playing Overseas
Scott Machado has played for many teams around the world.
- In 2014, he played for ASVEL Basket in France.
- From 2014 to 2015, he played for BC Kalev/Cramo in Estonia.
- From 2015 to 2016, he played for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany.
- In 2016, he played for Rasta Vechta in Germany.
- From 2016 to 2017, he played for ICL Manresa in Spain. He even scored a winning shot in one of his first games there.
Return to the NBA G League and NBA
In 2017, Scott joined the South Bay Lakers, another NBA G League team. He played very well, averaging many points and assists.
In 2018, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for a short time. He later signed another 10-day contract with them in 2019. During this time, he scored a career-high 7 points in an NBA game.
Playing in Australia
In 2019, Scott signed with the Cairns Taipans in Australia for the 2019–20 NBL season. He had an amazing season, averaging 16.6 points and 7.7 assists per game. He was named the Fans' Most Valuable Player (MVP) and was chosen for the All-NBL First Team.
He re-signed with the Taipans for two more years. In 2021, he also played for the Mandurah Magic in Western Australia. He was named to the All-NBL1 West First Team.
Recent Teams
After his time in Australia, Scott played for Hapoel Eilat in Israel in 2022. Later that year, he joined Avtodor Saratov in Russia. From 2023 to 2024, he played for Flamengo in Brazil. Currently, he plays for Minas in Brazil.
National Team Career
In 2018, Scott Machado began playing for the Brazilian national team. He played in the FIBA World Cup Americas qualifiers, representing Brazil on the international stage.
