Scratchy & Co. was a fun British TV show made for kids. It was shown on ITV every Saturday morning. The show ran from May 6, 1995, until April 25, 1998.
About the Show
The main characters in Scratchy & Co. were "Reg" and "Scratchy". Elliot Henderson-Boyle played Reg, and Mark Speight played Scratchy. Other characters like Annabel and a Scottish girl were played by the funny actress Ronni Ancona.
Unique Style and Characters
A cool thing about the show was that the actors wore "solid rubber wigs" and really unusual jackets. This made them look very unique! Some people thought this style was a bit like another TV show called Max Headroom.
As the show went on, new characters joined the fun. These included Sedgely the penguin and Fathead the football.
Changes Over Time
Later on, Scratchy & Co. changed its style. Scratchy stopped wearing his rubber wig. The show moved to a studio set where Scratchy sat at a desk. Reg was often seen behind a window. At this point, the show started inviting special guests. These guests would come into the studio for interviews. However, many of the earlier characters were no longer part of the show.
Gail Porter was a guest presenter many times. She appeared in the third and fourth (which was the final) series.
The show was even nominated for a BAFTA award. This is a big award for TV shows in Britain!
