Screamer is a small, unnamed place in Henry County, Alabama, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it is not officially a city or town and does not have its own local government. Screamer is located along Alabama State Route 95. It is about 12.4 miles (20 kilometers) north-northeast of a larger town called Abbeville.

History of Screamer's Land

Screamer has an interesting history related to land boundaries. These boundaries were set a long time ago between Native American groups and the United States.

Early Land Agreements

The original border between the Creek Indians and the United States passed right through the area where Screamer is today. This border was created by an important agreement called the Treaty of Fort Jackson. A treaty is a formal agreement between different groups or countries. This treaty was signed in 1814.

Changing Borders with Treaties

Later, another agreement called the Treaty of Cusseta changed this border. This treaty was signed in 1832. It moved the boundary line further north. When the line moved north, it meant that Henry County gained more land. This land included the area where Screamer is now located. These treaties played a big part in shaping the map of Alabama as we know it today.
