The Sea Street Historic District is a special part of North Weymouth, Massachusetts. It's like a time capsule, showing over 300 years of history in the town! This area is mostly homes, with more than 150 buildings. These buildings were built from the 1600s all the way up to the 1900s.
The district is shaped like a triangle, bordered by North Street, Bridge Street, and Sea Street. It also stretches a bit along Shaw Street, Curtis Street, and North Street down to Neck Street.
What Makes Sea Street Special?
This historic district has some cool features that make it unique:
- Beals Park: You can find this park on Bridge Street. It was created way back in the 1880s, offering a nice green space for everyone.
- Congregational Church: On Athens Street, there's a beautiful church built in 1852. It's designed in the Greek Revival style, which was popular back then.
- Old Homes: Many of the earliest homes in the district are simple and charming. They don't have a lot of fancy decorations. One example is the house at 180 North Street/555 Bridge Street, built around 1810. It shows the Federal period style.
- The Oldest House: The oldest building in the district is thought to be the Bicknell House at 55 Sea Street. It's a small, one-and-a-half-story Cape style house built around 1650! Imagine living in a house that's over 370 years old!
Why Is It a Historic District?

The Sea Street Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Being on this list helps to recognize and preserve these special places.
