Seal of Iowa facts for kids

The Iowa State Seal
The Great Seal of the State of Iowa is a special symbol for the U.S. state of Iowa. It was created in 1847, just one year after Iowa became a state. The seal shows a soldier standing over fields of wheat. Around him are symbols that tell about Iowa's history. These symbols include ways people travel, farms, and mining. The words "The Great Seal of the State of Iowa" are written around the edge of the seal.
