Seba Beach began as just a few cabins in 1906. But in the 1920s, a railway was built nearby. This made it much easier for people to visit, and the number of residents grew. The village got its name from a character called Seba in an old book called the Old Testament.

In its early days, Seba Beach had many important buildings. There was a hotel, a bakery, and a post office. It also had a dance hall and a church, which is now the museum. There was even a mink farm and an inn called Twig's Inn, which also sold gas. In the winter, people would go ice fishing to sell their catch. During the summer, many festivals and events brought large crowds from Edmonton to the village.
