Josephus Gerardus Dominicus "Sef" Vergoossen (born 5 August 1947) is a former Dutch football manager. A football manager is like the coach of a sports team. They are in charge of training the players and deciding how the team will play.

Sef Vergoossen's Football Journey
Sef Vergoossen started his career as a football manager in 1978. His first team was VVV-Venlo. He stayed with them for 12 years, until 1989. After that, he managed MVV for nine years.
Success with Roda JC
From 1998 to 2001, Sef Vergoossen managed Roda JC. He led this team to win the KNVB Cup in the 1999–2000 season. Winning the KNVB Cup is a big achievement in Dutch football. It means his team was the best in a special tournament.
Managing in Belgium and Japan
After Roda JC, Vergoossen moved to Belgium. He managed Racing Genk from 2001 to 2004. During the 2001–02 season, he was named the Manager of the Year in Belgium. This award showed he was one of the best coaches there.
In 2006, Sef Vergoossen went to Japan. He managed a team called Nagoya Grampus Eight. Another famous manager, Arsène Wenger, had also coached this team before.
Leading PSV Eindhoven to Victory
In January 2008, Vergoossen became the temporary manager for PSV Eindhoven. This is a very famous football club in the Netherlands. He did an amazing job! He led PSV to win the Eredivisie title in the 2007–08 season. The Eredivisie is the top football league in the Netherlands. Winning it means his team was the champion of the whole country.
After his time at PSV, Vergoossen went back to Racing Genk. He worked there part-time as an advisor. This meant he gave advice to the club about football matters.
Returning to Roda JC
On 10 August 2022, Sef Vergoossen returned to Roda JC. He took on a role as an advisor. He helps the club's directors with football-related decisions.
