Josephus Gerardus Dominicus "Sef" Vergoossen (born 5 August 1947) is a former Dutch football manager. He is well-known for leading several football clubs to success, including winning important championships in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Sef Vergoossen's Football Journey
Sef Vergoossen started his career as a football manager in 1978. His first club was VVV-Venlo, where he worked for 12 years until 1989. After that, he managed MVV for nine years.
Success with Roda JC and Racing Genk
From 1998 to 2001, Vergoossen managed Roda JC. He led them to win the 1999–2000 KNVB Cup, a major football cup in the Netherlands.
Next, he moved to Belgium to manage Racing Genk from 2001 to 2004. During the 2001–02 season, he helped Racing Genk win the Belgian First Division title. For this achievement, he was named the Manager of the Year at the Belgian professional football awards.
Coaching in Japan and PSV Eindhoven
In 2006, Sef Vergoossen traveled to Japan to manage Nagoya Grampus Eight. This club had also been managed by famous coach Arsène Wenger before.
In January 2008, Vergoossen became the temporary manager for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He did a fantastic job, leading the team to win the 2007–08 Eredivisie title, which is the top football league in the Netherlands.
After his successful time at PSV, Vergoossen returned to his former club, Genk, to work as an advisor. In August 2022, he went back to Roda JC to advise their directors on football matters.
