Seiji Koga (古賀 誠史, Koga Seiji, born August 7, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a Midfielder. His brother, Masahiro Koga, was also a football player.

Seiji Koga's Football Journey

Seiji Koga was born in Okawa, Japan, on August 7, 1979. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1998. He joined Yokohama Marinos, a team in the top Japanese league, called the J1 League.

Early Career at Yokohama F. Marinos

At Yokohama Marinos (which later became Yokohama F. Marinos), Seiji played as an offensive midfielder. Even though he played in some matches each season, he wasn't a regular player. He was looking for more time on the field.

Moving to Avispa Fukuoka

In 2002, Seiji moved to Avispa Fukuoka. This team was in the J2 League, which is the second division of Japanese football. Avispa Fukuoka was also based in his home area, which was a nice bonus. Here, Seiji became a key player. He played many games as a left offensive midfielder.

His hard work paid off! In 2005, Avispa Fukuoka won promotion to the J1 League. This meant they moved up to the top division for the 2006 season. However, the team was relegated back to J2 the very next year. In 2007, Seiji didn't get to play as much as before.

Time at Vissel Kobe

Later in 2007, Seiji joined Vissel Kobe, another J1 League team. He became a regular player there and played often until May 2008. Unfortunately, he got an injury that kept him from playing for a while. He returned to the field in July 2009. At the end of the 2009 season, he left Vissel Kobe.

Final Years with SC Sagamihara

In May 2010, Seiji Koga joined SC Sagamihara. This team was in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues, which are lower-level leagues. He played a lot for SC Sagamihara. The team did well and was promoted to the Japanese Regional Leagues in 2011. Seiji Koga played his last professional season in 2012 and then retired from football.
