Selim Bayraktar was born on June 17, 1975. He is an actor from Iraq and Turkey. He is well-known for playing "Sümbül Ağa" in the TV show Muhteşem Yüzyıl. He also became famous around the world for his role in the Netflix series Rise of Empires: Ottoman.
Selim Bayraktar comes from a group of people called Iraqi Turkmen. His family is from the city of Kirkuk in Iraq.
Life Story and Acting Career
Selim Bayraktar was born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1975. His parents were Iraqi Turkmen. When he was a child, he enjoyed doing gymnastics. He even took part in competitions.
During the last days of the Iran-Iraq War, something important happened. A person who looked like Saddam Hussein visited Selim's school. This person was looking for boys to join the army. When Selim was chosen, his family made a big decision. They decided to help him travel secretly to Turkey to keep him safe.
After moving to Turkey, Selim studied acting. He graduated from Hacettepe University in 2000. After finishing his studies, he started working at the Turkish State Theatre. This was the beginning of his acting career.
Selim Bayraktar is very good with languages. He can speak Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, and English.
