Early Life and Moving to Turkey
Selim Bayraktar was born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1975. His parents were Iraqi Turkmen. When he was a child, he enjoyed doing gymnastics. During a difficult time when there was a war between Iran and Iraq, a person pretending to be the leader of Iraq visited Selim's school. This person was looking for young boys to join the army. When Selim was chosen, his family decided it was safer to help him move secretly to Turkey.
Starting His Acting Journey
After moving to Turkey, Selim Bayraktar studied acting. He graduated from Hacettepe University in 2000. After finishing his studies, he began working at the Turkish State Theatre. This is where he started his professional acting career.
