Selwyn Cobbo (born 5 June 2002) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a winger, centre, or fullback for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League (NRL). He has also played for Queensland in the famous State of Origin series.

About Selwyn Cobbo
Selwyn Cobbo was born in Cherbourg, Queensland, Australia. He went to Murgon State High School. He was the first Indigenous student to be the school captain there.
Cobbo started playing junior rugby league for the Cherbourg Hornets and Gympie Devils. He is also the great-great grandson of a famous cricketer named Eddie Gilbert.
Selwyn Cobbo's Rugby League Journey
Starting His Career: 2021
Selwyn Cobbo made his first big game debut for the Brisbane Broncos in 2021. He played as a winger against the St. George Illawarra Dragons. Later that year, he played fullback for the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls in the 2021 Queensland Cup Grand Final. His team lost that game by a small score of 16-10.
Big Moments in 2022
The year 2022 was a great one for Cobbo. He scored two tries in a game against Canterbury. He then scored three tries (a hat-trick) in a big 38-0 win over Manly-Warringah. The next week, he scored two more tries against Newcastle.
Because of his amazing start, Cobbo was chosen to play for Queensland in the 2022 State of Origin series. He played in all three games, helping Queensland win the series. He also scored another hat-trick for Brisbane later in the 2022 NRL season.
Highlights of 2023
In 2023, Cobbo continued to shine. He scored another hat-trick in a game where Brisbane beat Manly 32-6.
He was again selected for Queensland in the 2023 State of Origin series. In the first game, he scored two tries, helping Queensland win 26-18. Cobbo scored two more hat-tricks that year, one against the Dolphins and another against Canberra. He played 24 games for Brisbane in the 2023 NRL season and scored 20 tries. He also played in the 2023 NRL Grand Final, where Brisbane narrowly lost to Penrith.
2024 Season and Beyond
In 2024, Cobbo scored two tries in a derby game against the Dolphins. He was also named on the bench for Queensland in the first game of the 2024 State of Origin series. He played 19 games for Brisbane in the 2024 NRL season.
In the first round of the 2025 NRL season, Cobbo scored a hat-trick in Brisbane's big 50-14 win over the Sydney Roosters. It was announced on June 27, 2025, that Selwyn Cobbo will join the Dolphins (NRL) team for the 2026 season.
