Seminary, Virginia facts for kids
Seminary is a small place, not officially a town, located in Lee County, Virginia, in the United States. Long ago, this area was known by a different name: Turkey Cove.
It played a small part in the American Civil War, as soldiers from the 64th Virginia Infantry trained on the grounds of its church. Their chaplain, Reuben Steele, was connected to the church.
How Seminary Got Its Name
Seminary got its name from a special school, called a seminary, that was part of the local United Methodist Church. A seminary is a place where people study to become ministers or religious leaders.
