The Senguerr River is an important river located in the Chubut Province of Argentina. It is known for its unique journey through the landscape of Patagonia. This river plays a vital role in the local environment, providing water to lakes and supporting wildlife in the region.

Where the River Begins

The Senguerr River starts its long journey high up in the Andes Mountains. Its water comes from two beautiful glacial lakes: Lake La Plata and Lake Fontana. These lakes are fed by melting glaciers and snow, making the river's starting point a very cold and clear place.

The River's Path

From the Andes, the Senguerr River generally flows towards the east. As it travels, it makes a big loop around the southern part of the San Bernardo Mountains. After this turn, the river changes direction, flowing north-northeast.

The river then splits into several smaller streams, like branches of a tree. These streams eventually flow into Musters Lake.

Connecting Lakes

The Senguerr River is the main source of water for Musters Lake. In years when there is a lot of rain or snowmelt, some of the river's branches can even reach another lake nearby, called Colhué Huapi Lake. However, Colhué Huapi Lake has become much smaller in recent years. This can happen due to less rainfall or more water being used by people.

The Senguerr River carries a large amount of water. On average, about 49 cubic meters of water flow through it every second. That's like filling about 49 large bathtubs with water each second!
