Sergi López i Ayats (born on December 22, 1965) is a Spanish actor. He is well-known for his roles in movies like Dirty Pretty Things, Solo mía, and Pan's Labyrinth. Sergi López has had a successful acting career in both Spanish and French films.

Early Life and Learning

Sergi López grew up in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a city in Spain. He started acting in local plays called Els Pastorets, which are traditional nativity plays. He began studying theater in Barcelona, Spain. Later, he moved to France to finish his acting studies at the famous school of Jacques Lecoq. Sergi is very good at languages! He can speak Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.

Acting Career Highlights

Sergi López started his film career in 1991. He met French director Manuel Poirier and made his first movie, La Petite amie d'Antonio, in 1992. He worked with Poirier on eight more films. One of these, Western (1997), became a big success around the world.

Western was shown at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, where it won a special award called the Jury Prize. Sergi López was even nominated for a César Award for his acting in it. The César Award is one of the most important film awards in France. In 2000, he won the César Award for Best Actor for his role in the French movie Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien.

Sergi López has starred in many other notable films. These include Caresses (1997), Dirty Pretty Things, Solo mía, and the fantasy film Pan's Labyrinth.

In 2005, Sergi López also returned to the theater stage. He performed a one-person show called Non solum, which he helped to write and direct.
