Sergio Camello's Football Journey
Starting Young in Madrid
Sergio Camello was born in Madrid, Spain. He started playing football at a young age. In 2009, when he was just eight years old, he joined the youth team of Atlético Madrid. This is one of the biggest football clubs in Spain.
Making His Senior Debut
Sergio worked his way up through the ranks at Atlético Madrid. He first played for their reserve team, Atlético Madrid B, on September 23, 2018. In that game, he came on as a substitute and scored a goal!
Just a few months later, on May 18, 2019, Sergio made his debut for the main Atlético Madrid team in La Liga. He came into the game at halftime and scored a goal. This was a special moment because he became the first player born in the 21st century to score for Atlético Madrid.
Loan Spells and Scoring Goals
To gain more experience, Sergio went on loan to other clubs.
Playing for Mirandés
On August 31, 2021, he joined CD Mirandés on loan for the 2021–22 season. He played a lot of games there and scored 15 goals. He even scored two goals in a single game three times!
Joining Rayo Vallecano
After his time at Mirandés, Sergio renewed his contract with Atlético Madrid until 2026. Then, on August 3, 2022, he moved to another top-tier club, Rayo Vallecano, on loan. He scored his first goal for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on October 3, 2022.
Permanent Move to Rayo Vallecano
Sergio played so well for Rayo Vallecano that they wanted him to stay. On August 17, 2023, he officially signed a four-year contract with Rayo Vallecano. This meant he became a permanent player for the club.
International Success with Spain
Olympic Gold Medalist
In 2024, Sergio Camello was chosen to play for the Spain Olympic team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This was a huge honor!
On August 9, 2024, Sergio played in the final match against France. He scored two amazing goals in extra time, helping Spain win the game 5–3. This victory earned Spain the gold medal, making Sergio an Olympic champion!
