Sergio Dalma's Music Journey

Sergio Dalma began his singing career in different bands and choral groups. He became well-known after winning a TV show called "Gent d'aqui" on the Catalan TV station, Televisión Española. This win helped him get a regular singing job at the Shadows night-club in Barcelona. Soon after, he signed a contract with the record company Horus.

First Album Success

In 1989, Sergio Dalma released his first album, Esa Chica es Mía. The main song from the album, also called "Esa Chica es Mía," was his first single. This pop-rock song became very popular in Spain and many Latin American countries like Mexico, Chile, and Argentina. By 1990, the album had sold enough copies to be certified Platinum in Spain and other places.

Eurovision and International Fame

His next album, Sintiéndonos la Piel, came out in 1991. In the same year, Sergio Dalma was chosen to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1991. He sang the song "Bailar pegados" in Rome and finished in fourth place. This song became a huge international hit for him. It introduced him to Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States, where it reached number 6 on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks chart in Billboard magazine. It also became a number one hit in several Latin American countries. Another song from the album, "Como Me Gusta," also became a Top 10 hit on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks list.

More Hit Albums and Songs

The following year, he released Adivina, which quickly reached number one on the Spanish charts. This album included the popular song "Ave Lucía." Sergio Dalma later recorded music for other big companies like Polygram and Universal. Many of his songs became hits, including "Galilea" (1991), "Solo Para Ti" (1994), "Esta Noche Es Larga Si No Estas" (1998), "Todo Lo Que Quieres" (2005), "El Mundo" (2011), and "Yo No Te Pido La Luna" (2011).

His 2010 album, Via Dalma, was one of the biggest successes of his career. It stayed at number one in Spain for 10 weeks and sold enough copies to be certified six-times platinum. His next album in 2011, Via Dalma II, also reached number one and was certified four-times platinum. To celebrate this album, Dalma hosted a TV special called Via Dalma in December 2011. Famous guests like Laura Pausini and Pablo Alborán joined him on the show.

In 2013, Dalma's album Cadore 33 also topped the charts in Spain during its first week. This made it his fifth album in a row to reach number one on the national chart. It featured two popular songs: "Si Te Vas" and "Recuerdo Crónico."
