Early Years in the Soviet Union and Russia

Skachenko began his career in the Soviet Union. He played for teams like Traktor Pavlodar and Metalist Kharkiv. After the Soviet Union ended, he moved to play in Russia for Torpedo Moscow.

Playing in Ukraine

He also played for several clubs in his home country, Ukraine. These included Temp Shepetivka and the famous club Dynamo Kyiv.
