The Serrano River is a beautiful river in Chile. It flows through the Magallanes Region, which is in the southern part of the country. This river is quite short, only about 38 kilometers (24 miles) long. It gets its water from Del Toro Lake and eventually flows into the Última Esperanza Sound.
The river is known for its stunning views, especially near the Serrano Glacier. Its main helper river is the Grey River. The Serrano River is an important part of the local environment.

Exploring the River's Past
The area around the Serrano River has a very long history. Scientists have found many important clues about how people lived here thousands of years ago.
Ancient Discoveries at Milodon Cave
Not far from where the Serrano River meets the sea, there is a famous place called the Cueva del Milodon. This is a large cave where amazing discoveries have been made. Inside the cave, experts found proof that humans lived there around 6,000 years BC. This means people were exploring and settling in this region a very long time ago!

In 2015, scientists found a type of algae called Didymo in the Serrano River. This algae can sometimes spread quickly and affect the river's ecosystem.
