History of Sexton
Early Days as Hamilton Station
Sexton was once known by a different name: Hamilton. In 1883, the community was officially established as Hamilton Station. This name came about because it was a stop along a railroad line. Railroads were very important back then for travel and moving goods.
The Post Office at Sexton
A post office was opened in Sexton in 1882. This meant people living there could send and receive mail more easily. However, the post office did not stay open forever. It was closed down in 1903. Even though the post office is gone, the name Sexton stuck around for the community.
