Shady Grove is a ghost town located in Houston County, Texas, in the United States. A ghost town is a place where most people have left, and it's mostly empty.
History of Shady Grove
Shady Grove was first settled in the 1850s. It quickly got its own post office. However, this post office closed down in 1866.
A Baptist church was built there in the mid-1860s. This church was later rebuilt in 1896. By the mid-1930s, Shady Grove had the church, a cemetery, and a few houses.
These buildings were still there in the mid-1960s. But many people had moved away by then. This happened especially after World War II. By the 1990s, almost everyone had left Shady Grove. It became a true ghost town.
