Shahdara facts for kids
Shahdara is a part of the big city of Delhi in India. It's located right next to the Yamuna River. This area is one of the oldest places in Delhi. It's also the main office (or 'headquarters') for the Shahdara district, which is a newer part of Delhi.
A Glimpse into Shahdara's Past
Shahdara was first built a long time ago by a powerful king from the Mughal Empire. The name 'Shahdara' comes from the Urdu language. It means "door of kings," which sounds pretty grand! Long ago, an old market and a village called Chandrawali were located right here in Shahdara.
