Shaktimaan: The Animated Series is an animated TV show from India. It started in 2011 and is based on the popular live-action show called Shaktimaan. Reliance Animation made the show with Accel Animation Studios. It's about a young college student named Vehaan Arya. He uses special powers from yoga to become Shaktimaan. His mission is to stop the evil Kilvish, who wants to destroy the world.
The story takes place in a made-up place called Indus City. There are 26 episodes in the series. In each episode, Kilvish tries to destroy the world. Shaktimaan uses his powers to save it. He also gets help from 7 wise teachers, called gurus, who trained both him and Kilvish. An Emmy Award winner, Jeffrey Scott, wrote the stories for the show. Vehaan Arya, the main character, is a college student and lab assistant. He is based on the character Pandit Gangadhar Shastri from the original live-action show.
The series was first shown on Nickelodeon Sonic in 2011. It was also shown on Discovery Kids in 2017. You could watch it in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Because it was so popular, Nickelodeon showed it again starting in May 2012. You could also buy the show on DVD in all four languages. One episode, "Shaktimaan: Unfinished Business," won an award in 2012 for being the Best Animated TV Episode.
What's the Story?
Vehaan Arya goes to Indus City University as a regular college student. This is his secret identity. He works as a lab assistant for Professor Gyani. Professor Gyani is in charge of the computer science department. He often gets help from Louise, a computer program. Louise has memories of his mother, who passed away. Vehaan also becomes friends with Leena. She is a journalism student who wants to find a big news story.
Meanwhile, Kilvish gets two helpers, Tick and Tock. They help him with his evil plans. When the city is in danger, Vehaan asks his 7 yoga gurus for advice. They give him superpowers. He then saves everyone from a huge, evil robot. Leena doesn't know who he really is. She calls him Shaktimaan and decides to report on his actions to get a job.
Later, we learn that both Vehaan and Kilvish were students of the 7 yoga gurus. The gurus chose Vehaan in a contest because he was kind. Kilvish was not chosen because he used his powers in an angry way. Kilvish got very mad. He used his evil powers and hurt Vehaan's friends. This still makes Vehaan sad today.
Louise sees Vehaan use his powers in the lab. But she promises to keep his secret. Bumpy, Vehaan's roommate, also joins him and becomes his best friend. Leena's brother, Chikoo, really looks up to Shaktimaan. He wants to be like him. General D’Goze leads a secret military team. He doesn't like Shaktimaan because Shaktimaan gets all the praise. General D’Goze tries to stop Kilvish using Professor Gyani's inventions. But he always fails in a funny way.
Kilvish keeps giving Shaktimaan tough challenges. These include monsters, natural disasters, sickness, and even alien attacks. Dr. Jackal, an evil scientist, is Professor Gyani's biggest enemy. He teams up with Kilvish to get revenge. They try to destroy the world. But Shaktimaan always saves the day and defeats them.
