Shamini Flint (born October 26, 1969, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a talented author who lives in Singapore. She is best known for her exciting crime novels, the Inspector Singh Investigates series, which are read all over the world! Shamini also writes fun children's books that often teach about different cultures and protecting our environment. Before she became a full-time writer in 2004, she worked as a lawyer. She is also known for helping to promote fair trade products in Singapore and gives some of the money from her environmental books to the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). Shamini lives in Singapore with her husband, Simon, and their two children, Sasha and Spencer.

Shamini's Journey to Writing

Before becoming a famous author, Shamini Flint had a successful career as a lawyer. In 1993, she earned high marks in her law exams in London. She then worked as a lawyer in Malaysia.

Shamini continued her studies at the University of Cambridge in the UK between 1994 and 1995. There, she received top awards for her legal studies. She became a qualified lawyer in England and Wales in 1999. After working for a big international law firm, she taught law at the National University of Singapore until 2002.

Inspector Singh Investigates

Her most famous books are the Inspector Singh Investigates crime fiction series. These stories follow a detective named Inspector Singh as he solves mysteries in different countries. In 2008, a British publishing company called Little, Brown and Company bought the rights to publish her first three Inspector Singh books worldwide.

The first book in the series, Inspector Singh Investigates - A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder, was even recommended by The Telegraph newspaper in the UK! The seventh book in the series, Inspector Singh Investigates - A Frightfully English Execution, came out in May 2016.

Books for Young Readers

Shamini also writes wonderful books for children. These books are very successful too! For example, Diary of a Cricket God was bought by Puffin Books India, meaning it's available to many readers in that part of the world. Another publisher, Allen & Unwin, bought the rights to publish it in other countries. Her children's books often have important messages about culture and the environment.
