Shane Brennan was born on January 20, 1957, in Bendigo, Australia. He is a famous Australian television writer and producer. He is best known for his work on the popular TV shows NCIS and its spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles.

Shane Brennan's Early Career

Shane Brennan started his career as a journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). By 1981, he decided to switch from journalism to writing scripts for television shows. He worked on many Australian TV series, including Special Squad, The Flying Doctors, and All Together Now.

In the mid-1990s, he began working on American TV shows that were filmed in Australia. One example is the show Flipper. This experience helped him meet people in the United States and get an agent. He traveled back and forth between Australia and the US many times to attend meetings and build connections in the TV industry.

Becoming a Top TV Producer

In 2003, Shane Brennan became a supervising producer for the crime show CSI: Miami. A supervising producer helps manage the making of a TV show. After that, he took over as the showrunner for NCIS. A showrunner is like the main boss of a TV series; they are in charge of everything from writing to production.

He later created NCIS: Los Angeles, which is a spin-off show from NCIS. He was also the showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles for many years. Even while working on the new show, he remained an executive producer for NCIS until 2015. An executive producer helps oversee the entire production of a show.

In July 2016, Shane Brennan stepped down as the showrunner of NCIS: Los Angeles. In February 2022, it was announced that he would lead a brand new NCIS: Sydney series. This new show is set in Sydney, Australia.
