Shane Johnson is a retired ice hockey player who was born in Canada on January 1, 1974. He became a British citizen and played as a defenceman. A defenceman is a player whose main job is to stop the other team from scoring goals. They also help their own team score.

Early Life and Career Start

Shane Johnson grew up playing ice hockey. He spent four years playing for Boston University in the United States. After university, he joined the Canadian National Ice Hockey Team for one year. This was a big step in his career, showing he was a top player.

Playing in the United Kingdom

In 1998, Shane moved to the United Kingdom to play professional ice hockey. He joined the London Knights in the British Ice Hockey Superleague. This was a major league in the UK at the time.

Winning Championships

After playing for the London Knights, Shane moved to the Bracknell Bees. With the Bees, he helped the team win the Superleague title. This was his first big championship win in the UK.

In 2000, Shane joined the Belfast Giants. He quickly became a favourite with the fans. During his six years with the Giants, he won many important titles:

He returned to the Sheffield Steelers for a short time in 2007. He also had a brief period playing for the Cardiff Devils before going back to the Belfast Giants. Shane Johnson retired from playing ice hockey at the end of the 2009-2010 season.
