Early Life and Discovering His Talents
Shane Pow grew up with an older sister in Singapore. He went to Woodlands Ring Secondary School and later to Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Shane was a very active sportsman. He even played basketball for Singapore's National Youth team in international games. However, an injury stopped him from competing professionally.
When Shane was 19, he started working as a part-time presenter for a sports show called "Livewire." Soon after, a modeling agency discovered him. He began doing photo shoots, including campaigns to encourage safe drinking. In 2011, Shane joined the Manhunt Singapore 2011 competition. This helped him get small roles in local TV shows.
Shane Pow's Journey in Acting
In 2012, Shane signed a contract with MediaCorp, a big media company in Singapore. This happened after he finished his National Service. His first big role was as B Niu in the TV show It Takes Two. He was even nominated for a "Best Newcomer" award at the Star Awards 2013.
Shane quickly became more famous. He got important roles in other dramas like Love At Risk and The Recruit Diaries.
Expanding His Skills as a Host
In 2014, Shane started hosting TV shows. He hosted programs like Cheap and Good and Style Check-in 4. He also acted in shows such as Serve H.O.T, Against the Tide, and Three Wishes. These roles helped him win the "Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes" award at the Star Awards 2015, 2016, and 2017.
In 2015, he appeared in Family On The Edge and The Journey: Our Homeland. The next year, 2016, was also busy. He filmed House of Fortune, Beyond Words, and Peace & Prosperity. He also starred in two online series, I Want to Be a Star (his first main role) and Soul Reaper.
Facing Challenges and Moving Forward
In 2016, Shane was part of a TV show called I Want to Be a Star. An episode caused a public discussion because of how a character was shown. The episode was later removed from Mediacorp's online service.
In 2017, Shane acted in When Duty Calls. This role earned him a nomination for "Best Supporting Actor" at the Star Awards 2018. In December 2017, he signed a direct contract with MediaCorp.
In 2018, he filmed Mind Matters and online series like Die Die Also Must Serve and Love At Cavenagh Bridge.
In April 2021, Mediacorp ended their contract with Shane. He had faced some challenges and had to take a break from acting. He finished his last projects with MediaCorp, including Soul Old Yet So Young. However, his role in The Heartland Hero was taken over by another actor, James Seah, because the show was still being filmed.
After a period away, Shane apologized for his actions. Other actors, like Mark Lee, even offered him support. In May 2021, Shane started doing live stream sales for beauty products. After some time, he became a regular live streamer. In September, he joined Li Nanxing's management agency, LNX Global. Soon after, he appeared in the Singaporean-South Korean film Ajoomma. He also returned to Mediacorp dramas, including the TV movie My Star Bride - Hi, Mai Phương Thảo, Love At First Bite, Silent Walls, and Family Ties.
