She went to the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. There, she earned a degree in Business. Later, she studied at the University of New Mexico. She earned another degree there, called a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Shannon D. Pinto became a senator after her grandfather, John Pinto, passed away. He had been a senator for a very long time, from 1977 until 2019.
