Sharon Ann Leal (born October 17, 1972) is an American actress and singer. She is well-known for her roles in popular movies like Dreamgirls (2006) and This Christmas (2007). She also starred in the movies Why Did I Get Married? (2007) and its sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010). On television, you might know her from shows such as Legacy, Guiding Light, and Boston Public.

Early Life and Family
Sharon Leal was born in Tucson, Arizona. Her mother, Angelita, is from the Philippines. Sharon's father was an African-American military police officer. He and her mother separated before Sharon was born. Later, her mother married Jesse Leal. He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and a police officer. Jesse Leal adopted Sharon when she was young.
Acting Career
Sharon Leal's acting journey began on television. She played Dahlia Crede in the CBS show Guiding Light. After that, she joined the Broadway musical Rent. She even played the character Mimi for the San Francisco tour of Rent. Sharon also sang on the original cast recordings for two Off-Broadway musicals: Bright Lights, Big City (1999) and Making Tracks (2001).
From 2000 to 2004, Sharon starred in the TV series Boston Public on Fox. She also appeared in the movie Face the Music. Later, she had a recurring role in the NBC series LAX.
In 2006, Sharon Leal was in the movie Dreamgirls. She played Michelle Morris, a singer who joins the group The Dreams. She acted alongside famous stars like Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson. In 2007, she appeared in two more movies: Why Did I Get Married? and This Christmas. She returned for the sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? in 2010. Sharon also played Vanessa Lodge in the TV series Hellcats. In 2013, she had a supporting role in the movie 1982.
In 2014, Sharon Leal released her own music album, titled "Leal."
More recently, Sharon has appeared in the TV series Supergirl. She played the character M'gann M'orzz, also known as Miss Martian, in several seasons of the show.
Personal Life
Sharon Leal married Bev Land in October 2001. Their son, Kai Miles Land, was born in September 2001. Sharon and Bev divorced in 2009. Sharon is good friends with her former Guiding Light co-star, Yvonna Wright. They even performed together in a community play of Dreamgirls in their hometown.
