Sharptown is a small place in Indiana that isn't officially a town or city. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government. Sharptown is located in Whitewater Township, which is part of Franklin County.
History of Sharptown
Sharptown was once known by a slightly different name: Sharpstown. For many years, it was an important stop for mail. The community had its own post office, which was a place where people could send and receive letters and packages. This post office was open for a long time, from 1878 until 1906. It was located along a main road called the Mt. Carmel and Johnson Fork Turnpike.
