The Story of Shattered Peace

Life on the Farm

The comic starts with Ravenpaw waking up on a peaceful farm. He lives there with his best friend, Barley. Ravenpaw enjoys his quiet life on the farm. He thinks about how much he loves his home and his daily routine.

Unexpected Visitors

One night, Ravenpaw and Barley hear noises outside their barn. They open the door and find a group of cats: Willie, Minty, Snapper, Tess, and Pounce. Minty is about to have her kits, so they ask for a place to stay. Ravenpaw is very kind and welcomes them inside. He even hunts for them to make sure they have food.

Soon, Minty's kits are born. They are named Snowflake, Icicle, Cloudy, and Sniff. Ravenpaw quickly grows very fond of the new kittens. The new cats, however, start to take advantage of Ravenpaw and Barley's kindness. They expect Ravenpaw and Barley to do all the hunting for them. Barley doesn't like this, but Ravenpaw is happy to help.

Growing Problems

One day, Barley sees Snapper teaching the young kits how to fight. He tells Ravenpaw about it, but Ravenpaw doesn't believe him. Ravenpaw thinks Barley is just being silly. He believes they need to protect the precious kits. Barley feels upset and worried.

Later, Barley overhears Willie and Snapper talking about finding their own territory. He becomes very suspicious. But he decides not to say anything to Ravenpaw.

A Difficult Goodbye

When Willie's group is ready to leave, Ravenpaw is very sad. He doesn't want them to go. Barley, however, is relieved and encourages them to leave quickly. After they are gone, Ravenpaw and Barley argue. Ravenpaw thinks Barley treated the new cats like strangers. Barley explains that Ravenpaw, who used to live with a Clan, enjoyed their company more. Barley then questions if Ravenpaw truly belongs on the farm, which makes Ravenpaw very upset.

Fire at the Barn

Ravenpaw goes to sleep, still angry, while Barley goes hunting. Suddenly, a wire in the barn sparks, and the whole barn catches fire! Barley quickly wakes Ravenpaw up and helps him escape. Even though they are angry, they work together. They also help the farm's dogs escape the burning barn.

Ravenpaw and Barley have to sleep outside because their home is destroyed. The next day, while hunting, Barley finds a dead rabbit. Neither of them killed it, which is strange.

Blamed and Banished

That night, Ravenpaw and Barley hear noises from the chicken coop. It turns out to be Willie and his gang again. Ravenpaw greets them warmly. But then, Willie's cats start attacking the chickens. Ravenpaw and Barley try to stop them, but the other cats escape.

The farmer hears the noise and comes to check on his chickens. He sees his dead chickens and only Ravenpaw and Barley nearby. The farmer thinks Ravenpaw and Barley killed them. He chases them away from the farm.

A New Path

Off the farm, Ravenpaw and Barley meet Willie's gang again. They learn that Willie's cats used to be part of a dangerous group called BloodClan. They were trying to start their "lost" Clan again. Ravenpaw and Barley begin to fight with Willie's gang. But Minty, Willie's mate, tells them to stop. She says enough fighting has happened and that Ravenpaw and Barley should just leave forever.

That night, Ravenpaw and Barley sleep under a bush in the rain. Ravenpaw apologizes to Barley for not listening to him earlier. The next morning, Ravenpaw sees a place called Highstones in the distance. He decides they should go there.

They spend the night at Highstones. While there, Ravenpaw has a dream. He sees three important cats from StarClan: Bluestar, Whitestorm, and Spottedleaf. They tell him they know about his and Barley's troubles. They advise him to find Firestar, the leader of ThunderClan, and ask for help. Ravenpaw wakes up, and he and Barley begin their journey to ThunderClan.
