Plot Summary

A Journey to ThunderClan

The story begins with Ravenpaw and Barley waking up inside the Moonstone cave. They had to leave their peaceful farm home. A group of mean cats, who used to be part of BloodClan, had chased them away.

While sleeping at the Moonstone, Ravenpaw had a special dream from StarClan. This dream helped him realize that his old Clan, ThunderClan, could help them. They could drive out the BloodClan cats from the farm.

On their way to ThunderClan, Ravenpaw and Barley found a lost kit. They returned the kit to a patrol of WindClan and ThunderClan cats. Then, they went with the ThunderClan cats back to their camp.

Trouble in ThunderClan

When they arrived at the ThunderClan camp, Firestar, the leader, appeared. He asked Ravenpaw and Barley why they were there. They told him everything about the BloodClan cats attacking their farm. Firestar agreed to help them.

However, while they were talking, some ThunderClan cats returned from hunting. They were badly hurt! Ravenpaw and Barley learned that more BloodClan cats were attacking ThunderClan patrols. Firestar realized he needed to help his own Clan first. He invited Ravenpaw and Barley to stay as long as they needed.

The next day, Ravenpaw and Barley joined a ThunderClan hunting patrol. As they returned, BloodClan cats attacked them. There was a short fight. One BloodClan cat, Snipe, seemed to recognize Barley. BloodClan managed to steal ThunderClan's prey and then ran away.

Soon after, Firestar and Graystripe asked Barley for help. They wanted him to find BloodClan's home in the Twolegplace (the human town). Barley felt upset and ran off into the forest.

Unmasking BloodClan

The next day, Rainpaw, a ThunderClan apprentice, returned from hunting. He said that he and his sister, Sorrelpaw, were attacked by BloodClan. Sorrelpaw was badly hurt.

Barley went with the rescue patrol. When he saw Sorrelpaw's injuries, he decided to help ThunderClan. He went to Firestar and told him everything he knew. Barley also decided to find his sister, Violet, hoping she might know more about BloodClan.

When Barley and Ravenpaw found Violet, she told them that BloodClan was getting organized again. Violet led them to her friend, Mitzi. Mitzi's son, Fritz, had been taken by BloodClan a month earlier. Mitzi had followed them and learned where their home was. She was happy to take them there.

The Final Battle

The cats returned to ThunderClan to tell Firestar where BloodClan lived. Firestar gathered a battle patrol. They quietly left camp and headed to the BloodClan camp.

When they arrived, they found all of BloodClan gathered. Two cats, Ice and Snake, were leading them. Barley and Violet recognized them as their brothers, Jumper and Hoot. Violet walked forward and called out to them, reminding them who she was. But Ice and Snake pretended not to remember her.

Firestar gave the order to attack. The cats fought bravely, and ThunderClan won the battle. Ice and Snake begged for mercy. Barley told them they had been attacking cats and stealing prey, so now they had to pay. Ice and Snake tried to blame the rest of BloodClan. With that, BloodClan turned on their leaders and drove them away.

The cats left, and Firestar promised Ravenpaw that once his Clan had rested, he would lead a patrol to drive the other BloodClan cats from the farm.
