The Story So Far
In the book before this one, A Clan in Need, Ravenpaw and Barley had a big problem. Rogue cats had taken over their home, a farm barn. They asked Firestar, the brave leader of ThunderClan, for help. Firestar agreed to help his friends.
He gathered a group of strong Clan cats to go with him. Their mission was to drive the rogues away from Ravenpaw and Barley's farm. The patrol set off, ready for a challenge.
Facing the Rogues
When the cats arrived at the barn, they found it was a mess. The rogues had made the place dirty and broken things. Firestar quickly came up with a plan. They would surprise the rogues while they were sleeping.
However, their plan didn't go perfectly. The farm's chickens got scared and made a lot of noise. This woke up the rogues, and a big fight started. The Clan cats soon realized there were many more rogues than they expected. Some of these rogues were even from a dangerous group called BloodClan.
During the battle, the farmer heard the noise. He came into the barn, which scared all the cats away. ThunderClan regrouped outside. Firestar then thought of a new plan to defeat the rogues.
The Final Battle
Firestar's new plan worked! ThunderClan managed to push the rogues out of the barn. But just as they were winning, more rogue cats arrived to help their friends. The Clan cats started to lose the fight again.
Luckily, the farm's dogs got loose and joined the battle. The dogs attacked the rogues, helping ThunderClan. With the dogs' help, they finally drove all the rogues away. Only Barley's brothers, Hoot and Jumper, were left behind.
Firestar and his patrol then left. Ravenpaw and Barley went back into their barn. They decided to let Hoot and Jumper stay with them.
Trouble at Home
While Barley went for a walk, Ravenpaw showed Hoot and Jumper around the farm. Ravenpaw noticed that Barley's brothers didn't seem to care about the farm at all. They just looked bored.
When Ravenpaw and the visitors returned to the barn, Ravenpaw took a nap. When Barley woke him up, Ravenpaw was shocked. The barn was a complete mess again! Hoot and Jumper claimed they were just trying to hunt mice and accidentally destroyed everything.
One night, Barley and his brothers went for another walk. When they came back, Hoot and Jumper started ordering Ravenpaw around. They told him to hunt for them. The next day, they were still bossing Ravenpaw. Ravenpaw wondered why Barley wasn't doing anything about it.
Loyalty Over Blood
Suddenly, Barley got very angry at Hoot and Jumper. He told them he didn't like how they were treating Ravenpaw. Barley bravely said that loyalty is more important than family ties.
After that, Hoot and Jumper left the barn for good. Finally, Ravenpaw and Barley had their home back all to themselves. They could live peacefully together again.
