Sheila Tousey was born in Keshena, Wisconsin, in 1959. She is an actress who performs on stage and in films. Sheila is from the Menominee and Stockbridge-Munsee Native American tribes. She grew up on both the Menominee and Stockbridge-Munsee reservations. Sheila started dancing when she was a small child.

Her Journey to Acting

Sheila did not start acting on stage until she went to college. She attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. At first, she planned to study law. She wanted to focus on laws related to Native American communities.

However, Sheila later changed her main subject to English. During this time, she also began taking theater classes. After finishing her first degree, Sheila went on to study acting. She joined the graduate acting program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. In 1994, she directed her first play. It was called An Evening at the Warbonnet at the University of New Mexico.

Sheila's Career

Sheila Tousey has become a professional dancer and actress. Her very first movie role was in Thunderheart in 1992. She also appeared in Medicine River that same year. Since then, she has played many different characters. You might have seen her on the TV show Law & Order.
