Sheinelle Marie Jones (born April 19, 1978) is an American journalist. She is a well-known news anchor and correspondent for NBC News. Sheinelle is one of the hosts of the Today show's third hour on weekdays. She also hosts Wild Child, which is part of NBC's Saturday morning educational block called The More You Know.

Early Life and Education

Sheinelle Marie Jones was born on April 19, 1978. Her birthplace was Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father is C. Darnell Jones II, a U.S. District Court Judge. Sheinelle says her mother taught her to be very focused. Her mother would put up inspiring messages all around their house.

Sheinelle went to Wichita Brooks Middle Magnet School. She also attended Wichita Heights High School in Wichita, Kansas. Later, she studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. While at Northwestern, she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha, a historic Black sorority. Even in high school, she gained experience. She interned at KWCH-TV, a local TV station in Wichita.

Sheinelle Jones's Career Journey

Sheinelle Jones started her broadcasting career in Springfield, Illinois. Her first job was at a station called WICS. Before joining NBC News, Sheinelle worked at other TV stations. She worked at KOKI-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also worked at WTXF-TV in Philadelphia. She stayed at the Philadelphia station for over nine years.

Jones joined the Today show on October 4, 2014. She first became part of Weekend Today. In January 2019, she became a co-host on 3rd Hour Today. For a while, she worked six days a week. She was a co-host on 3rd Hour Today and a co-anchor on Weekend Today. On December 21, 2019, she left Weekend Today.

In February 2020, Sheinelle had surgery on her vocal cord. She could not speak for two weeks after the surgery. She took six weeks off from work to recover. In 2021, she was an executive producer for a documentary. It was called Stories We Tell: The Fertility Secret. This film looked at how fertility issues affect women of color.

Personal Life

In 2007, Sheinelle Jones married Uche Ojeh. They had met while attending Northwestern University. They have three children together. Their sons are named Kayin and Uche. Their daughter is named Clara.

On May 23, 2025, the Today show announced sad news. Uche Ojeh had passed away. He had an aggressive type of brain cancer called glioblastoma. Sheinelle had taken time off from NBC News earlier that year. This was to be with her family after her husband's diagnosis.
