Shenanigans was a fun children's TV game show. It was made by Heatter-Quigley Productions. The show aired on ABC every Saturday morning.

It first ran from September 26, 1964, to March 20, 1965. Then it came back from September 25 to December 18, 1965. The show started in New York City and later became a national hit. Shenanigans was a bit like another show called Video Village Junior. Both shows had kids playing on a giant game board.

Meet the Hosts

Stubby Kaye was the host of Shenanigans. Everyone called him "the Mayor of Shenanigans." He helped the kids play the game.

Kenny Williams was the announcer. He was known as "Kenny the Cop." Kenny played a similar character on the Video Village show.

How the Game Worked

The game was played on a huge game board. Children stood on the board like game pieces. To move, a button was pressed. This button stopped a set of flashing lights. The lights showed numbers from one to four.

The kids then moved that many spaces on the board. On each space, they had to answer a question or do a fun stunt. If they did well, they earned "Shenaniganzas." These were like special tokens. Kids could trade their "Shenaniganzas" for cool items. These items came from the Top Value Stamp Catalog. Sometimes, prizes were also hanging from the studio ceiling!

Many spaces on the game board were based on popular board games. These games were made by the show's sponsor, Milton Bradley Company. One example was the game Operation. In 1964, Milton Bradley even released a Shenanigans board game. It was made to go along with the TV show.
