Sherilyn S. McCoy (born in 1959) is an American scientist and a top business leader. She used to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Avon Products. Before that, she was a vice chairman at Johnson & Johnson. There, she was in charge of their medicine and consumer product businesses.
In 2011, Fortune Magazine named her one of the "50 Most Powerful Women in Business." She had been on this list since 2008. In 2012, she left Johnson & Johnson after 30 years. Sherilyn S. "Sheri" McCoy was born in 1959. Her hometown is Quincy, Massachusetts. She went to the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. There, she earned a bachelor's degree in textile chemistry.
In 1982, she got a master's degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University. She later earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1988. This degree was from Rutgers University. Working at Johnson & Johnson
Sheri McCoy started working at Johnson & Johnson in 1982. She began as a chemical engineer. Her early work focused on creating new products for women's health. She later led the company's research and development team.
After that, she became the global president of a division. This group made products for babies and items for small injuries. In 2005, she became the chairman of the Ethicon Endo-Surgery division. She was responsible for business in Latin America.
Leading Surgical and Pharmaceutical Groups
In 2008, McCoy was chosen to lead the Surgical Care Group. This made her a member of the company's Executive Committee. In February 2012, Sheri McCoy left Johnson & Johnson. She had worked there for 30 years. She was then chosen to lead Avon Products. She became their new CEO on April 23, 2012.
In August 2017, Sheri McCoy left her position as Avon CEO. This happened after sales had been lower for several years.
