Shigeki Tsujimoto (辻本 茂輝, Tsujimoto Shigeki, born 23 June 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender.

Shigeki Tsujimoto's Football Journey

Starting His Career

Shigeki Tsujimoto was born in Suita, Japan, on June 23, 1979. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career. In 1998, he joined a team called Yokohama Flügels.

Playing for Kyoto Purple Sanga

Unfortunately, his first club, Yokohama Flügels, closed down at the end of 1998. Shigeki then moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga in 1999. He played for this team for many years, until 2005.

Later Clubs and Retirement

After leaving Kyoto Purple Sanga, Shigeki played for a few other teams. In 2006, he joined Tokushima Vortis. From 2007 to 2008, he played for Sagawa Printing. His last team was FC Osaka in 2009. He decided to stop playing professional football at the end of the 2009 season.

Playing for Japan

Youth National Teams

Shigeki Tsujimoto also had the chance to play for his country. In August 1995, he was chosen for the Japan U-17 national team. He played one match in the 1995 U-17 World Championship.

FIFA World Youth Championship

Later, in April 1999, he was selected for the Japan U-20 national team. This team played in the 1999 World Youth Championship. Shigeki was a key player in this tournament. He played as a right-back in their defense. He played every minute of all seven matches. Japan did very well in this championship, finishing in second place!
