Shigenori Hagimura (萩村 滋則, Hagimura Shigenori, born July 31, 1976) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender for several teams in Japan.

Shigenori Hagimura's Club Career

Shigenori Hagimura was born in Mie Prefecture, Japan, on July 31, 1976. After studying at the University of Tsukuba, he joined the professional football club Kashiwa Reysol in 1997.

In his first year, he quickly became a regular player. He played as a centre-back, which is a defender who helps protect the goal. His team, Kashiwa Reysol, won the 1999 J.League Cup, which was his first big championship win.

In 2000, Hagimura also played as a defensive midfielder sometimes. This role means he helped defend but also supported the attack from the middle of the field. However, he played less often after 2001.

He then moved to other clubs. In 2004, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga. The next year, 2005, he played for Albirex Niigata, where he was a regular player again. In 2006, he moved to Tokyo Verdy. He played for Tokyo Verdy until 2008, when he decided to retire from professional football.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Shigenori Hagimura also had a chance to play for his country. In April 1995, while he was still a student, he was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team.

He was part of the team that played in the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. This is a big tournament for young football players from around the world. Hagimura played in one match during this championship, against the team from Chile.
