Shilin District is a part of Taipei, the capital city of Republic of China. It is mostly a place where people live. A very famous person, Chiang Kai-shek, who used to be the President of the Republic of China, lived here. Shilin is divided into 51 smaller areas called villages. These villages are then split into even smaller parts called neighborhoods. Many people believe that the culture of Taipei first began in Shilin District.

Learning in Shilin: Schools and Universities
Shilin District is a great place for learning! It has many different schools and universities.
Universities for Higher Education
There are three main universities in Shilin. These are Ming Chuan University, Soochow University, and the Chinese Culture University. Students from all over Taiwan and the world come here to study.
International and Local Schools
Shilin is also home to several international schools. These include the Taipei American School, the Taipei Japanese School, and the Taipei European School. These schools teach students from different countries. Besides these, Shilin has many local schools. There are colleges for special job training, four high schools, eight middle schools, and twenty elementary schools. This means there are lots of choices for students of all ages.
