Shin-Ōsaka Station is a major train hub in Japan.

Shin-Ōsaka Station (新大阪駅, shinosaka-eki) is a very important train station in Osaka, Japan. It is located in Yodogawa-ku, a part of Osaka. This station is like a big meeting point for many different train lines.

People use Shin-Ōsaka Station to travel all over Japan. It is especially famous for being a stop for the super-fast Shinkansen bullet trains. Three main companies operate trains here: JR West, JR Central, and the Osaka Municipal Subway.

A Major Train Hub

Shin-Ōsaka Station is a very busy place. It connects many important train lines. This makes it easy for people to travel to different cities and regions in Japan.

Shinkansen Bullet Trains

The station is a key stop for two major Shinkansen lines:

  • The Sanyō Shinkansen connects Shin-Ōsaka to cities further west, like Kobe.
  • The Tōkaidō Shinkansen connects Shin-Ōsaka to cities further east, like Kyoto and Tokyo.

These bullet trains are known for being very fast and efficient.

Local Train Lines

History of Shin-Ōsaka Station

Shin-Ōsaka Station first opened in 1964. It was built especially for the start of the Tōkaidō Shinkansen line. This made it a modern and important station from the very beginning. Over the years, more lines and services have been added. This has made it an even bigger and busier transport hub.
