Shinichi Morishita, born on December 28, 1960, is a former professional football player from Japan. He played as a goalkeeper. After his playing career, he became a coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Myanmar national football team.

Shinichi Morishita's Club Journey

Shinichi Morishita was born in Shizuoka, Japan. After finishing college at Tokyo University of Agriculture, he joined a football club called Yamaha Motors in 1983. This club later became known as Júbilo Iwata.

He played for Yamaha Motors for many years. In the 1987–88 season, his team won the championship in the Japan Soccer League. This was a big achievement! Because of his great performance, Shinichi was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team. This team is made up of the best players in the league that season. He was also named the "Japanese Footballer of the Year" in 1987.

In 1992, the Japan Soccer League changed. Yamaha Motors joined a new league called the Japan Football League (JFL). His team won the JFL championship in 1992. They also finished second in 1993.

Because of their success, the club was promoted to the J1 League in 1994. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football league. In 1995, Shinichi moved to another JFL club, Kyoto Purple Sanga. His new team also did well, finishing second in 1995 and getting promoted to the J1 League. Shinichi Morishita retired from playing football in 1997. He played a total of 313 league games during his career.

Playing for the Japan National Team

Shinichi Morishita first played for the Japan national team on June 4, 1985. His first game was against Malaysia. He also played in the qualifying games for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in 1985.

From 1986, Shinichi became the main goalkeeper for Japan. He played in important tournaments like the 1986 Asian Games. He also played in the qualifying matches for the 1988 Summer Olympics in 1987.

Even though another goalkeeper, Shigetatsu Matsunaga, sometimes took his spot, Shinichi still played in many matches. This included games at the Asian Games in 1990. He played 28 games for Japan's national team until 1991.
