Starting with Consadole Sapporo
In 2002, Shinya joined Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J1 League. The J1 League is the top professional football league in Japan. He made his first professional appearance on May 6, 2002, in a J.League Cup match. Later that year, in November, he also played his first games in the J1 League. He appeared in the last four matches of the 2002 season.
