Shinya Aikawa (相川 進也, Aikawa Shinya, born July 26, 1983) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward during his career.

Shinya Aikawa's Football Journey

Shinya Aikawa was born in Kamisato, Saitama, Japan, on July 26, 1983. After finishing high school, he began his professional football career.

Starting with Consadole Sapporo

In 2002, Shinya joined Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J1 League. The J1 League is the top professional football league in Japan. He made his first professional appearance on May 6, 2002, in a J.League Cup match. Later that year, in November, he also played his first games in the J1 League. He appeared in the last four matches of the 2002 season.

However, Consadole Sapporo finished last in the J1 League that year. This meant they were moved down to the J2 League for the next season. The J2 League is the second-highest professional league in Japan.

Becoming a Regular Player

In 2004, a new manager named Masaaki Yanagishita joined Consadole Sapporo. Under his guidance, Shinya Aikawa became a regular player for the team. He played many games as a forward from 2004 until 2006.

After the 2006 season, manager Yanagishita left the team. A new manager, Toshiya Miura, took over in 2007. Shinya did not play as much under the new manager that year.

Moving to FC Gifu

In September 2007, Shinya Aikawa moved to FC Gifu. This team was playing in the Japan Football League at the time. This league was a step below the J2 League.

Shinya played well for FC Gifu, scoring 4 goals in 8 matches. His efforts helped the team get promoted to the J2 League at the end of the 2007 season. This was a great achievement for FC Gifu.

Retirement from Football

In 2008, Shinya Aikawa continued to play for FC Gifu in the J2 League. However, he did not play as often as he had in previous years. At the end of the 2008 season, Shinya decided to retire from professional football.

Throughout his career, Shinya Aikawa played a total of 155 league matches and scored 33 goals. He was a dedicated forward for both Consadole Sapporo and FC Gifu.
