Masaaki Yanagishita (born January 1, 1960) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He played as a defender and later became a successful coach for several teams in Japan.
Playing Career: A Strong Defender
Masaaki Yanagishita was born in Hamamatsu, Japan. He played as a central defender, which means he was a key player in stopping the other team from scoring goals.
Playing for Yamaha Motors
From 1982 to 1992, Yanagishita played for his local club, Yamaha Motors. This team later became known as Júbilo Iwata. He played in 135 league games for them. During his time, Yamaha Motors had many successful years. He helped them win the Japan Soccer League in the 1987-88 season. He also helped them win the Emperor's Cup in 1982. He stopped playing professional football in 1992.
Playing for Japan's Youth Team
In 1979, Masaaki Yanagishita was chosen to play for the Japan national under-20 football team. This team played in the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship. This big tournament was held in Japan that year. He played in three games during this championship.
