Shohei Ikeda (池田 昇平, Ikeda Shohei, born April 27, 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Shizuoka, Japan. Shohei played as a defender for several clubs during his career. He also represented Japan at the youth international level.

Playing Career

Shohei Ikeda began his professional football journey with Shimizu S-Pulse. He joined their first team in the year 2000. During his time there, he helped the club win the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. He even scored the winning goal in the final match!

He became a regular player for Shimizu S-Pulse in 2002. After playing for them until 2004, he moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2005.

Later Clubs

Ikeda continued his career by playing for different teams. In 2006, he joined Vegalta Sendai. The following year, in 2007, he moved to JEF United Chiba. He played for JEF United for four seasons, showing his skills as a defender.

After his time at JEF United, he played for Ehime FC in 2011. His final club was FC Gifu in 2012. Shohei Ikeda decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2012 season. Throughout his career, he played in 199 league matches and scored 3 goals.

National Team Experience

Shohei Ikeda also had the chance to play for his country. In June 2001, he was chosen to be part of the Japan U-20 national team. This team competed in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship.

During this important tournament, Ikeda played in all three matches for the Japan U-20 team. This experience allowed him to play against young talents from around the world.
