Shohei Ikeda (池田 昇平, Ikeda Shohei, born April 27, 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender during his career.

Shohei Ikeda's Club Journey

Starting with Shimizu S-Pulse

Shohei Ikeda was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on April 27, 1981. He began his professional football journey with Shimizu S-Pulse in 2000. This was a big step for him.

During the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup, Ikeda scored a very important goal. His goal helped Shimizu S-Pulse win the championship! He became a regular player for the team in 2002.

Moving to New Teams

After playing for Shimizu S-Pulse until 2004, Ikeda moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2005. He then played for Vegalta Sendai in 2006. In 2007, he joined JEF United Chiba.

Ikeda stayed with JEF United Chiba for four seasons. After that, he played for Ehime FC in 2011. His last club was FC Gifu in 2012. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2012 season.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Representing Japan U-20

Shohei Ikeda also had the chance to play for his country. In June 2001, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. This team competed in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship.

At this important tournament, Ikeda played in all three matches for Japan. It was a great experience for him to represent his country on an international stage.
