Early Life and Family
Shrinkhala Khatiwada was born on November 3, 1995, in Hetauda, Nepal. Her father, Birodh Khatiwada, is a well-known political leader. He has been elected to the national parliament four times. Her mother, Munu Sigdel Khatiwada, is also a political leader in their local area. She is a member of the state parliament in Bagmati Province. Shrinkhala has an older brother named Bimba.
Shrinkhala is also involved in important global work. She is a leader for an organization called the International Association of Educators for World Peace. She also leads the One Home Foundation.
Education and Dreams
Shrinkhala finished her early schooling in Hetauda. She then went to Goldengate International College. She studied architecture at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus. She was a top student there, getting the highest grades in several semesters.
Shrinkhala loves to write and create poetry. She has a big dream to become the first female Prime Minister of Nepal. She also wants to use her architecture skills to help people in her home country.
Winning Miss Nepal 2018
Shrinkhala won the Miss Nepal World 2018 title. She was the 23rd person to win this competition. She also won two special awards during the event: 'Miss Fascino' and 'Miss Beautiful Hair'. The competition took place on April 11, 2018, in Kathmandu, Nepal. She competed against 24 other contestants.
Competing in Miss World 2018
After winning Miss Nepal, Shrinkhala went on to compete in Miss World 2018. There were 118 contestants from all over the world. Shrinkhala did very well and made it into the Top 12 finalists.
Head to Head Challenge
In the Head to Head Challenge, contestants are put into groups. They answer questions and try to win their group. Shrinkhala was in Group 13 with contestants from Luxembourg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guam, and Moldova. She won the first round of her group. However, she lost in the second round to the contestant from Singapore.
Multimedia Award
Shrinkhala won the Miss Multimedia Award on December 3, 2018. This award is given to the contestant who gets the most votes from people online. Winning this award automatically placed her in the Top 30 of Miss World 2018. On the same night, she also placed third in a video award for a tourism video about Sanya, China.
Beauty With A Purpose Award
One of the most important parts of Miss World is the Beauty With A Purpose Award. Contestants create projects to help their communities. Shrinkhala's project was chosen as the winner from 25 amazing videos. She was very happy about this award. She said that this title meant more to her than the crown itself. She joined Miss Nepal because she believed in the idea of Beauty with a Purpose.
The Grand Finale
The Miss World 2018 Final event was held on December 8, 2018, in Sanya, China. Shrinkhala reached the Top 12. Other contestants who made it to the Top 12 from Asia and Oceania included Miss Thailand and Miss New Zealand.
