Shuhrat Abbosov (born January 16, 1931 – died April 25, 2018) was a famous Uzbek artist. He was an actor, a film director, a writer for movies (screenwriter), and a film producer. Abbosov is known as one of the people who helped start the film industry in Uzbekistan. He was given important titles like People's Artist of the USSR in 1981 and People's Artist of Uzbekistan.

Life and Amazing Career
Shuhrat Solihovich Abbosov was born in 1931 in a city called Kokand, which was then part of the Uzbek SSR.
Early Life and Education
He finished medical school in Tashkent in 1949. Later, he studied theater arts at the Ostrovsky Tashkent Theater Arts Institute, graduating in 1954. Abbosov then went on to study film directing at Mosfilm, a famous film studio. He finished these studies in 1958.
First Films and Big Successes
His first film was a short movie called The Filipino and the Drunkard (1958). It was based on a story by William Saroyan.
Abbosov's first full-length movie was The Entire Makhalia Is Talking about This (1961). This movie was made at the Uzbekfilm Studio. It was a funny story about how young and old people sometimes have different ideas. The film was a huge hit with both viewers and critics. It is still one of his most famous works and is thought to be one of the best Uzbek films ever made. He also wrote the script for the very popular adventure film The Mischievous Boy in 1977.
Movies with Important Messages
One of his most important films was You Are Not an Orphan (1963). This movie was seen as a new and important step for Uzbek cinema. It tells the true story of a couple who adopted and raised fourteen children from different countries. These children had lost their parents during World War II.
His film Tashkent Is a City of Bread (1968) was set in 1921. It tells the story of two young boys from the countryside who are trying to escape hunger. They hope to find food in Central Asia.
Abbosov also directed big movies about important historical figures. He made Abu-Raikhan Beruni (1975), which was about a famous medieval scholar. He also directed Fiery Paths (1977–1985), a TV series about the life of the Uzbek writer Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi.
Directing for the Stage
Besides films, Shuhrat Abbosov also directed many plays. These included Ogʻriq tishlar (Hurting Teeth) by Abdulla Qahhor and Nurxon by Kamil Yashin.
Awards and Recognition
Shuhrat Abbosov received many awards and special titles for his work. These included People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR and People's Artist of the USSR. Many of his films are now part of the "Golden Fund of Soviet Cinema's Classics." This means they are considered very important and valuable films from that time.
Passing Away
Shuhrat Abbosov passed away on April 25, 2018, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He was 87 years old.
Family Life
Shuhrat Abbosov had four children. Their names are Nazim Abbasov, Eldjohn Abbasov, Asal Abbasova, and Stefaniya Abbasova. His youngest daughter, Stefaniya, is an artist and lives in Poznań, Poland.
