Shunzo Ono (大野 俊三, Ōno Shunzō, born March 29, 1965) is a former Japanese footballer. He played as a defender, which means he helped protect his team's goal.

Shunzo Ono's Football Journey
Shunzo Ono was born in Funabashi, Japan, on March 29, 1965. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1983. He joined a team called Sumitomo Metal. This team later became very famous as Kashima Antlers.
Playing as a Defender
Shunzo Ono was a strong center back for his team. In 1987, his team, Sumitomo Metal, finished second in the 1987 JSL Cup. This was a big achievement for them.
Joining the J.League
In 1992, a new and exciting football league started in Japan. It was called the J1 League. Kashima Antlers, Shunzo Ono's team, joined this new league. In their very first season in 1993, they did incredibly well.
Kashima Antlers finished second in the J1 League. Shunzo Ono's excellent performance was noticed, and he was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team of the league. This means he was considered one of the top 11 players that year! His team also came in second in the 1993 Emperor's Cup.
Moving Teams and Retirement
After many successful years with Kashima Antlers, Shunzo Ono's playing time started to decrease in 1995. In 1996, he decided to move to a different team, Kyoto Purple Sanga. He played there for one season. At the end of 1996, Shunzo Ono decided to retire from playing professional football.
Life After Football
After his football career, Shunzo Ono didn't stop being busy! He became the owner of an izakaya, which is a type of Japanese pub. He also shares his football knowledge with others.
Today, he works as a soccer commentator, explaining games on TV or radio. He is also a personality on a local radio station. Plus, he is a Director at the Kashima Heights Sports Plaza. He helps manage sports activities there.
